It may seem like a funny question, but we discovered that we often compared our marriage with others around us.  When we saw bickering or worse, we would justify our marriage because we weren’t that bad!

It got us researching what made the best marriages-those that others admired and desired!  What we found were surveys, one of which showed couples with less than 2% divorce rates!  We decided to implement what those couples had into our own relationship!  One of the most life-giving concepts that best marriages had is to get away for at least an overnight, directed retreat or seminar. We love to be inspired to grow by learning something we didn’t know that we didn’t know! We have done that almost every year since 1976, and even during COVID lockdown we attended online conferences! We discovered that all relationships are growing or dying – there is no standing still.  Doing a staycation on our own may not give us the opportunity to be challenged!

For the second year in a row, we are on the Good News Couples Cruise.  Each day we have another dynamic speaker presenting and providing new ideas for us to incorporate into our marriage.  So far, we have been encouraged by Fr. John Riccardo to wrap our burdens in a bag and throw them over the side of the ship, and by Chris Stefanick and Fr. Josh Johnson to focus on the One who promises us joy. With the right focus we can have joy in both good times and bad!  This is truly the source of having an attractive marriage. Others are attracted to JOY.

Maybe you feel like we have felt with the hangover of COVID weighing us down and holding us back!  In just two days of inspiration, we are sailing along to transform ourselves. We promise to share more in the days ahead.
